When setting up a new model, it is always a good idea to test your servo operation – check the direction of rotation and the volume of movement and adjust accordingly. These little servo testers allow you to do just that. You connect the servos to one side and a receiver battery to the other side for power. They have three functions (accessed by the select switch):
• Manual operation – move the servo by rotating the knob
• Centre – press a button and the servo goes to its centre – showing you where to push on the servo arm
• Cycle – moves the servo through its full operation like windscreen wipers
But there is more – you can connect up to three servos at once.
Can I say that these little devices are a crucial tool if you are going to glue your servos in – many of us fit thin servos in glider wings with minimal fixing and weight. Then you absolutely must have the arm fitted in the right position before gluing as you will not be able to adjust it again! Check it with one of these!

• The cheap and cheerful device on the left has a flexible plastic case and is open at the ends.
• The one on the right is much more robust and is mounted in a metal case.
